Friday August 28, 2020, Introduction to Zentangle and Zentangle on Dark Paper.
I am proud to be selected as one of the instructors for Shake Rag Alley’s Art Adventure Retreat Aug 27 – 30, 2020 in Mineral Point 
Wisconsin. I will be teaching Introduction to Zentangle® Aug 28th, 2020 from 9am – 12pm and Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark: Zentangle® on Dark Paper on Aug 28th from 1 – 4pm.
Shake Rag Alley is a wonderful creative venue set in Mineral Point, WI and will be offering a wide variety of classes for their Art Adventure Retreat. Sat May 2 – Alcohol Ink Painting 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Alcohol Inks are resins formulated with an alcohol base. They are designed for non-porous surfaces. This class is intended for students who have worked with alcohol inks already. The Northern Lights Shore scene we are creating in this class features a technique that makes the Northern Lights sky movement and is exciting to create. In this 3-hour class, the students will experiment with more advanced alcohol ink application techniques while creating their 8 x 10” painting. We will be using multiple colors of alcohol ink and application tools

Sat March 14- Snow / Ice Dyeing Sat 10:30 am – 4:30 pm
Snow/Ice Dyeing is a fun technique resulting in fabric that has a lot of depth and beauty. The randomness of the result is part of the intrigue. In this class the student will learn the folding techniques used in patterned dyeing and will create their own set of beautiful dyed fabrics.
Class Fee: $85
What to bring:
– 4 yards of fabric (you can purchase this at Blue Bar Quilts), PFD preferred but not required.
– Plastic tub with tight fitting waterproof lid measuring at least 16″wide x 22″long x 6″deep
– 12 large binder clips, at least 1″wide
– Water soluble fabric marker (available at the shop)
– Old Shirt or apron.

Sat Feb 22 – Alcohol Ink Painting 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Alcohol Ink is the medium for this project class. It is intended for students who have worked with alcohol inks already. The Winter Forest scene we are creating in this class features birch trees in a snowy forest reminiscent of Northern Wisconsin with moon and stars and is fun to paint.

Tuesday Feb 11 – Intro to PanPastel 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
PanPastels are a new incarnation of one of the oldest colorant mediums. They can be applied to many surfaces and can be layered, blended, mixed and erased to create many effects. In this introductory class the student will learn about and practice with the PanPastel medium and tools.

Silk Fusion – Shimmery Fabric for Quilts/Fiber Art
Weds, Thurs, Sept 4 & 5th, 2019
In this class, the student will learn about luminous tussah silk fiber and the process of making the silk fiber into a tough, sewable fabric. The finished silk fusion piece will be a unique creation and can be used in one piece or cut to make a fiber art piece.

“The Zentangle® Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns,” according to www.zentangle.com. No prior artistic training or ability is necessary to enjoy this workshop. If you can hold a pen and draw simple shapes, you can learn the patterns used. The process of drawing the repetitive patterns encourages a feeling of relaxed focus, which is beneficial in many ways. Students learn and practice the steps of the Zentangle® Method. The addition of color to your Zentangle® drawings opens amazing possibilities. So much media and so little time, but we will explore a few of the many options: colored pens and pencils, Inktense, and watercolor. We will discuss and experiment with shading and highlighting in color, working for dimension and form.
All media and paper will be provided, however, students are welcome to bring their own color media – pens, pencils, etc.- Tuition: $70
